The TrueTrac comes in both 28- and 30-spline versions and we chose the 30-spline. That meant we needed new axles.

May 20, 2018 · I have been eyeing the LSD truetrac by Detroit. I daily my car so a lsd would be better than a "lunchbox" ratcheting locker. Does anybody know if it matters if the lsd would work with a 2wd rear diff. Says it fits a 8" diff but not sure if the 2wd is 8".

I have the Aussie version TrueTrac and 3:91 and love it. I grenaded the stock posi and went ahead and dropped the coin for the TT and gears. No issues other than ear splitting gear whine-(I have total poly and a Harrop cover and it does transfer more noise). First gear is pretty much useless but at least sixth is useable now.

Sep 25, 2015 · Dana 35C and the Detroit TrueTrac I was in the process of replacing my worn out Trac-loc with a Detroit Truetrac and found an anomaly I thought you all should be aware of. Since the Dana 35C is a C clip style axle the axle end play is controlled by the cross pin.

Aug 21, 2016 · The clutch posi style just could not handle the abuse I was throwing at them. Right now I'm driving the car on 25 year old 215/60/15 tires and at times it will drag or spin a tire instead of releasing the locker, I expect this to change in a day or so when the fat sticky tires get bolted onto the car once again.

Anyone else running a TrueTrac diff and having this problem?? The only solution I can think of is to have a machine shop make a new spacer that is wider so it takes up the excessive clearance between the two axles.

It began with me reading the 9-bolt facts thread, and some guy wrote that there was this company "Supa F Series Spares" in Australia that sells a Posi for a "VL" Holden Commodore that will fit the 9-bolt.
The Truetrac is a helical gear limited slip differential, not a “locker”. The Truetrac operates by transferring power from the spinning wheel to the wheel with the most traction. If one tire breaks traction, the amount of rotation (or spin) is controlled by transferring the lost traction to the higher traction wheel.

Just a bit of info for you. Your service manager needs to do better home work and better research. This is way better than a "posi trac". It is a true locker that uses a clutch setup to lock up when the rear senses slippage from one wheel. I have a 2005 with the same rear end, and it has not given me any trouble.
